Help Balance the City’s Budget
Competitive sourcing will save millions each year and help us balance the city’s budget. National studies demonstrate cost savings between 10% and 25% for each function subjected to competitive bidding.

The Reason Foundation recently completed a study on potential cost savings for San Diego taxpayers if competitive bidding were implemented on a number of city functions. They estimate San Diego taxpayers can save between $80 million and $200 million per year!

Advance Common-Sense Pension Reform
Competition will save taxpayer monies in other ways by giving the Mayor much-needed leverage at the negotiating table with labor unions. With full competition, the Mayor will also have more leverage to implement much-needed pension reforms.
